If you watch for the latest changes on the wiki (or even catch フタナリ至上主義"エロ"一覧), you might notice something very odd. Most of the professional futanari medium being released are not of the more believable hentai animation or erotic games, but of Japanese based Adult Video (non-animated pornography).

Yes, futanari is obviously growing as a more acceptable fetish in Japan. I don't think approval is the main factor of growth though. The cost of producing video from a staff of about 10 is MUCH cheaper than hiring about 50 staff members to illustrate fill-in panels and then picking up some seiyu for voiceover. An animation also takes longer to produce… how long has it been since the previous chapter of the Bible Black series?

When you compare the time and personel to make this form of entertainment; it's easier to get some starlets (or indies) who've done lesbian scenes with strap-ons, censor them, and have the illusion of a futanarikko.

This is all speculation and opinion, so take it as you will.
