Vicki Richter's Glossary

So you wanted to know what the hell a shemale is? You've heard the terms used many times, maybe in chat rooms, maybe you fall into one of these categories, and maybe you are trying to figure out what to call yourself or your lover… Well, these are my definitions. Keep in mind that these are not in any way sanctioned by the National Feminist Movement, the NRA, or the Global Society of Transgenders in Heat. On my site, what I say goes… If you don't like my definition of one of these gender roles… Too bad…

I most closely identify with shemale. While many will argue that shemale is the porn industries definition of a transexual, I have found that this is not the case. A shemale is someone who typically lives as a female, but has a penis and, whether she uses it or not, she no intention of removing it. She likes to cum. More than likely, this person has taken hormones, removed body and facial hair, and/or has had breast implants. Also, many shemales have their own natural long hair. A shemale identifies as a woman and typically is attracted to men and only men. I'm one of the exceptions here as I am bi-sexual, but I prefer men. While there are beautiful girls in all of the categories mentioned, I tend to believe that the most beautiful girls as a whole are shemales. By the way, I have many friends who fit into this category so don't argue with me that I am making it up.

I used to feel that I was transexual because I was lead to believe by other TG's that unless I planned to have a sex change, I was inferior. A transexual is different from a shemale only in terms of a goal to have SRS (Sexual Reassignment Surgery). As with shemales, transexuals identify as women, they more than likely live as women as well. In my experience many transexuals are less concerned about being beautiful than they are living the life that they desire and as the correct gender. However, again, there are MANY beautiful transexuals (pre-op and post-op). They are among you and you might not even know it!!! Transexuals almost exclusively date men, but there are quite a few known incidents of lesbian transexuals; I have met plenty of them. It definitely happens.

Transvestites can also be very beautiful. However, typically a transvestite is one who dresses in women's clothing for a sexual thrill of some kind. I have found many transvestites to be sexually interested in other transgenders or females. In my opinion, transvestites often take cross dressing to the next level. They are more likely to have their own hair, shave body parts that should be shaved for women, and may be more skilled at makeup. The intent to appear beautiful is typically essential to TV's. Transvestites do like to go out in public, but many times only to fetish clubs or parties and then only at night. Transvestites will almost never have breast implants (although it does happen) and rarely do they take hormones. I have never heard of a full-time transvestite, but I am sure it is possible.

A crossdresser can be anything from a guy who has worn his wife's panties in the privacy of his home to someone who occasionally goes out in public dressed as a woman. Crossdressers never live as full-time women, they rarely if ever take or have taken hormones or do things that are not easily reversible (hair removal, implants, etc). However, there does tend to be an escalation through the transgender chain from crossdresser to transexual. Some girls start out as crossdressers before they realize their true identity. A crossdresser may or may not shave their body, they are more likely to wear wigs, and almost always I have found that a high percentage of crossdressers are more into women or other TG's than men. Crossdressers, like TV's, will buy things like breast forms, butt padding outfits, etc to make their body appear feminine. Because there are more crossdressers than any other form of transgendered, a crossdresser is usually the most closeted grouping of TG's, but they also can be very open, particularly in groups. Some of my biggest fans are CD's…

This will probably get me argued with, but my perception of a transgender is… all of the above… I believe anyone who is one gender and identifies with the other in some way, part time, full time, mentally, or physically falls into this category. I, for example, consider myself a transgender or a shemale. It doesn't matter if you are CD, TV, TS, DQ, etc…; if you fall into one of those categories, you are TG. One of the biggest problems in the trangender community is the bickering that goes on among ourselves. We are so quick to place labels on each other. This is a very common problem. I have been insulted by TS because I classify myself as shemale and when I was maturing in my transitional phases, I was made to felt that TS was the mecca of the transgender pyramid. I have friends in every social circle and feel that everyone is going through the same issues. The fact that some of us live it day in and day out doesn't make us superior, it just gives us a tougher shell.

This one is kinda fun and has become very blurred over the years. In my experience, many drag queens commonly identify as gay men instead of women. They dress up for shows or for glam fun, but they almost always think of themselves as men instead of a woman trapped in a man's body. I've noticed that DQ's tend to have a lot of fun with their orientation. Some of the most flamboyant individuals in the TG community fall into this category.

Ahhhh… The beautiful girls of Thailand the home of the Katoey. A Katoey tends to be very similar to what we call transexuals. Many of them are post-op, and almost all of them plan on going post-op when they can afford it. It is much more accepted in Thailand and some other Asian countries than in other parts of the world. I have some great friends there and I will visit them again. I have heard of Katoey in their pre-op phase being referred to as ladyboys, but this is probably the doing of that damned porn industry. ;)

This one is pretty simple really… A hermaphrodite was born with both male and female genitalia. How they live their lives after birth depends. Occasionally the parents make the call at birth as pertains to their child's sexuality. Since this is really more of a medical condition than a case of transgenderism, I am not going to go into this further. I've never met one of these mythical individuals, but I know that they exist.
